Property Conversion Loft Extensions

If you are considering a property conversion loft extensions make perfect sense.

By deciding to convert your loft you will not only increase the amount of living space in the property but it will also increase the value of the home.

And in today’s uncertain housing market that can only be a good thing. And some recently released figures back that up.

The Royal Mail insurance company predict that the number of loft conversions in the UK will increase by 16% over the course of this year.

And there are sound financial reasons for considering converting the roof space.

It is accepted that loft conversions can increase the value of a home by up to 15% with a 7% increase in value being the norm.

Other recently released figures reveal that on average homeowners spend more on loft conversions than on any other kind of home improvement project.

But what is surprising about those figures is that the average spend on converting a loft is just £7,000.

Obviously that is a very low figure and anyone contemplating a full loft conversion will be looking at spending two – three times that figure.

Of course average loft conversion prices includes small projects such laying down loft boarding or adding skylight windows.

The true cost of a full loft conversion will be anything between £15,000 to £50,000.

But what the two sets of figures do confirm is a trend that has existed since at least 2005. And that is that the best investment a home owner can make in terms of increasing the value of a property is to convert the loft.
