Loft stair protection
by: Eldnarb

Did the building regulations pre 2007 require fire protection to the stairs leading to a loft conversion in a traditional two storey house?

Hi James,

Your local Building Regulations department will be able to answer this question more clearly. When you say more additional work it could mean anything.

Ask them and they can provide you with the right advice as long as you tell them exactly what you are looking to do.

Fire doors and fire alarms are there to provide a safe exit if there was a fire. My personal opinion would be to have them installed, for your own safety.
