Head height
by: Stuart - Highrooms

HI Ian,

obviously I haven't seen the position of the whereabouts that you stairs land within the loft but a cheeky way of gaining at least 120-150mm in head height on the stair landing is to fit a velux window over it.

This would mean your head rising within the confines of the window on the loft landing but will give you the additional height required. This is totally legal and fully complies with building regulations. we have done this quite a few times when that little bit extra head height has been needed.

There are various sizes of velux window which can be fitted right up to the ridge and on both sides of the roof if needed.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Hello Ian,

If you wish seek a Completion Certificate then you will have to make changes to comply with regulation guide lines.

You may need to lower the first floor ceiling heights to achieve the headroom required.

Our opinion on this would be to comply with Building Regulation guidelines.
