Fire regulations for loft conversions
by: LCUK

The short answer is yes. The building regulations demand that mains wired smoke alarms are linked together on a separate circuit.

But, even so, fire doors and a fire protected escape route are still necessary for a loft conversion to fit the criteria for building regulations approval.

Fire resistant doors have to be fitted along the escape route and often involve all the doors in the property needing to be upgraded.
