BOARDING LOFT
by: Barbara-Leeds

We have just had loft insulation put down through a government sponsored scheme. Prior to this we used to store items in the loft. We took up existing boards to allow them to do put it down. Now however the insulation is like a deep blanket over the entire space and not between the joists. We would like to board it out again but don't know where to start. What would you suggest, out house was built in 1975.

The insulation should have been laid in the same direction as the original ceiling joists.

The best way would be to lift insulation and then cross batten the loft.

If you are going to do this please wear protective clothing and eye protection as the insulation is an ?irritant?.

We trust this is of assistance.
