Regarding Building Regulations

There are no hard and fast rules that say you have to have radiators in your loft conversion but they are usually used because they are so easy to install.

There are some very stylish radiators available now so you are not limited to the old type bulky models. However there are alternatives to using radiators if you are determined not to use them.

Underfloor heating can be installed though it is much easier to put this kind of heating system into the lower floors.

Wet floor systems use heated water pumped through pipes laid below the flooring and can be used in loft conversions though they are not the easiest systems to install and may well be expensive.

Another type of underfloor heating that is probably easier to use in loft conversions is a dry flooring system. This uses electrically heated mats which are again positioned under the new flooring.
