If you have applied for Building Regulation approval this would be one of the requirements considered under part B.

It is rather worrying that this has not been covered by your designer.

But to clarify for the record, all doors that lead onto an escape route have to be upgraded to be self closing fire doors with a 30 minute rating.

Smoke alarms wired into the mains will be required at the base of the stair and also on the landing.
