Thanks for your response. The noise has now completely ceased. We think it could have been caused by an active wasps nest in the roofspace and the popping noise was in fact young larvae in the nest. As these will now (Aug/Sep) all have hatched then no more noise. I just hope that the wasps (if indeed this is what it is) have not eaten the loft roofspace insulation!

Hello Steve,

We have never heard of this type of problem before.

I think that this could be wind getting through somehow and causing the noise.

Your best bet would be to appoint a builder to pinpoint the area of noise and fix it.
